A beautifully made one-of-a-kind Double Bass by the Italian master Oreste Candi

3/4 Orchestra/Solo Italian Double Bass
Upper Bout: 18 3/4" Belly Length: 42 3/8"
Center Bout: 13 1/2" String Length: 40 1/2"
Bottom Bout: 24 3/4" Varnish: Orange Brown Oil
Rib Depth: 7 3/4"
Top: Medium grained Italian Spruce
Back / Ribs: Figured Oppio (Italian Maple)
Neck / Scroll: Lightly Figured Oppio (Italian Maple) w/ new Curly maple Neck Graft
Features: This is the only known Double Bass made by the award winning Italian maker Oreste Candi. Despite it's slightly smaller dimensions, this Bass has a powerful and penetrating sound along with a beautiful deep and colorful tone. This Bass was previously owned and played by Bass Bow Maker Sue Lipkins and was also used for testing her beautiful award winning Bows which are in great demand today.

Note: Oreste Candi (1864-1938) was a pupil of R. Fiorini (1828-1898). This Bass also has a beautiful set of custom Italian made Tuning Gears which look original to the Bass as well.

This Bass has been Sold.

Beautiful Cello grade wood was used by Candi on this Top as well as Figured Oppio (Italian maple) for the Back and Ribs
