Features: A beautiful classic French Gamba model Flat Back Bass in just about the best condition I have ever seen from a Bass this age and pedigree. The Back is in near Mint condition which still retains its original wide center brace, well shaped and beveled bearing the brand stamp of Paul Claudot in script type lettering. The Ribs are super highly figured Maple and are in near perfect condition with only a few small minor repairs showing. The Top is also in fantastic condition with a few professional repairs. The Top still retains its original arch and shows no signs of any distress past or present.

Note: In playing this Bass since it was acquired recently I have been able to not only admire its beauty but also its playability, tone and versatility. I can say with confidence that this Bass is as equal a fine pedigree orchestra Bass as it is a beautiful sounding Jazz Bass!

This Bass has been Sold.

This Original Claudot Scroll shows the scars of its original 3-string set-up and still retains the 3 original Gears with a 4th added sometime in the 19th century. The Gear shafts are pinned with a Screw from the rear of the pegbox holding the shaft in place, an old French feature.
