'Grandfather' J.F. Lott Model Orchestral Bass

A modern British replica of a Bass by J F LOTT, England 2008



Modern English Orchestral Double Bass 
Upper Bout: 20 1/2" Belly Length: 44 1/2" (Back Length: 45 1/4")
Center Bout: 14 3/8" String Length: 41 3/4"
Bottom Bout: 27" Varnish: Antiqued Golden Brown
Rib Depth: 7 7/8" ( Back angle break tapers to 6 1/2" at the Neck)
Top: 4-piece 'Pitch Pine' (the Top is made from reclaimed timber from an old Victorian School in Wales and estimated to be about 200 years old. This might help explain the smooth mature sound produced from this Bass)
Back: Flamed Bosnian Maple
Ribs: Lightly Figured Maple (The Ribs are old wood as well from and old Luthiers workshop)
Neck / Scroll: Flamed English Sycamore Maple

Features: A beautifully proportioned modern replica of a 'Grandfather Lott' Double Bass. Lott was also considered by many as the 'King of English Double Bass makers'.

Note: This Lott model having just come over from across the Pond was in need of some settling time here in the states. A complete check-up along with some internal repairs have just been completed by Arnold Schnitzer along with a full set-up, including a new Fingerboard & Bridge. This Bass has been Sold.
